A key principle in designing a logo is versatility. Originality, balance, and timelessness are additional design fundamentals, among many others. The next thing I did on my journey to entrepreneurship after agonizing over my business name was design my logo. I knew I wanted my business logo to be flexible while preserving its appearance. I realized my logo design may evolve while maintaining elements of its original concept.
This basic design principle is just a smattering of what a trained and gifted designer thinks about regularly. Color theory, balance, proportion, and hierarchy are just a few additional necessary principles.
Most designers have an innate artistic gift. Developing that talent with experience, training, and education will enhance those natural gifts.
I didn’t know exactly what my business would entail at the time. Most entrepreneurs have the benefit of knowing their audience. I did not start out with that advantage.
I recently posted a Valentine’s Day version of my logo (Instagram: @the.ess.factor). A perfect example of flexible design, well maybe perfect is too strong. Bt the basic elements remain while utilizing the logo’s space for multiple uses. This was a required vital component to the design of my business logo and will allow me to be creative with my brand's look in countless other ways.
