Taking a moment to reflect on the biggest lessons since I quit my job and became my own boss.
#1: THIS IS HARD!
I new this adventure was going to be hard, I'm on my own out here! I have a few people I can bounce ideas around with - including my unofficial intern, who also happens to be my adult daughter. I've learned that doing this alone is not possible. Thank goodness for my freelance coach, Julie!
#2: PLANNING
I've learned that planning is natural and easy for me. Sticking with the planning is generally something I'm good at, and I've learned that sometimes I have to just say no to some events and meetings.
#3: SIFTING THROUGH ADVICE
The more people I meet, the more advice I get. Everyone has been extremely supportive and helpful. I've learned that it takes time to process all the advice and ultimately I extract the nuggets that are keepers.
#4: HUSTLING IS IMPORTANT
The ability to keep going and going is important. I have daily goals and monthly goals. I have the skills and the sense of responsibility. And if I don't work on this nobody else will.
#5: I AM THE HAPPIEST I'VE BEEN IN A LONG TIME
This dream of mine has been festering for at least five years. I wasn't expecting it to come to the starting line so soon. I am finally that person that shouts, "I'm doing what I love!"
Being no stranger to hard stuff, I'm determined to make this work.
