I'v been working on this engine for a while. And now is the test. The moment before you turn the key, questions start swirling such as "did I build this so that it will run long term?" and "will this even work?"

I've connected the hoses, filled the tank and shined the wheels. I'm ready to head down the road on a trip of a lifetime. 

This is my first blog for Ess Factor Solutions!

I've been working on this engine for a while. Being the new person in the room is stressful. Insert whatever metaphor you'd like, I'm sure it fits here. 

We have all started new things, haven’t we? The accompanying fear and anxiety can be crippling. The goal became clear when I added my portfolio to The Freelance Exchange of Kansas City. I have known about this organization geared for the freelance community for years while daydreaming about becoming a member.

Since I am an organized person, I had a checklist of items needing to be completed before I went out on my own. I came up with my business name and logo and one by one created accounts on all the social platforms. When building my website, I realized that I lacked samples of my work. Having worked for others, I didn’t have much of my own work to display. Knowing I would need examples, I would need to collect new projects to use in my portfolio of work going forward. 

A typical story for freelance designers and creatives is how much we disliked going to our jobs and working for others. This was no different for me. There is no time like the present. When I obtained two clients I was ready to quit my full time job. I swiftly met that goal and turned in my notice. 

Marketing isn’t easy. Doing your own marketing is even more difficult. It takes lots of time and effort to design a strategy that works for your business.
